Xbox Elite Controller Series 2 "Core"

The Xbox Elite Series 2 "Core" controller is the route most value-conscious gamers take if they want to stick with official hardware, but even at a lower price than the standard, non-Core version, you'll pay a lot more than usual.

During Gaming Week, Amazon has knocked the price down to $142.93, which is 21% off the regular price. That's the lowest price since a brief dip last month.

Window Central's Jez Corden reviewed the Xbox Elite Series 2 "Core" controller, remarking:

"The Xbox Elite Controller Series 2 "Core" shaves off some of the bells and whistles to make its retail price more palatable, and in that, I'd say it's a success. While the lack of paddles is perhaps the most irritating aspect of the package, aftermarket paddles can be incredibly cheap."

AMD's Ryzen 9 9900X is a Zen 5 CPU that's perfect for 1440p or 4K gaming in 2025, and it'll also crush professional creative and development work thanks to its 12 cores and 24 threads.

It launched mid-2024, and the discounted price at Amazon during Gaming Week has it doesn to its lowest price ever. Rather than $499, you'll instead pay $364.

Windows Central Senior Editor Ben Wilson reviewed the Ryzen 9 9900X, saying:

"For performance-per-dollar, the Ryzen 9 9900X still beats Intel's Core i9-14900K despite its post-launch price drop, and that could remain the case if AMD reduces the listings in a matching cadence over the coming months. So, even if the playing field were even, AMD would still have the edge on value with the 9900X, at least for the first few months of its availability."

ASUS' 24.5-inch second monitor fodder

That's what I'm talking about more "normal" gaming monitors instead of glamorous ultrawides for those lucky gamers with gigantic desks. This FHD (1080p) ASUS ROG Strix gaming monitor has a 24.5-inch panel, which is decent for a main screen, but even better to use as a second display that doesn't encroach on your space.

It runs at up to 180Hz refresh rates, so probably sticking around 144Hz if we're realistic, and supports G-Sync to prevent screen tearing. If you're looking for a cheap second screen that doesn't skimp on the essential features for a gaming setup, ASUS has your back. — Ben Wilson

It's no secret that I prefer Intel's mobile processors over its desktop counterparts, but I won't deny that Team Blue has fantastic CPUs that are generally only countered by their high prices. Well, Intel has its Core i7-12700KF at its lowest-ever $154 for Amazon Gaming Week, and it's hard to find a reason to shun it.

Sure, it's a few generations behind, but you get support for DDR4 and DDR5 memory, meaning your options are pretty generous for building either a budget-friendly rig with previous-gen parts or a mid-range modern PC with up-to-date memory and GPUs.

MSI Optix 34-inch 144Hz curved 21:9

I'm watching Amazon Gaming Week LIVE to hand-pick the hottest deals on Xbox and PC gaming hardware (24)

Is Amazon trying to force me to ditch my multi-monitor setup for a curved screen or what? Here's another ultrawide gaming monitor with a decent discount, and yeah, it's UWQHD (or 3440 x 1440 for humans), so nothing in the 4K range, but I prefer this resolution anyway.

The exciting part is the 34-inch size, which is pretty huge for a monitor closing in on $200. A 1ms response time pairs with AMD FreeSync support for tear-free gameplay running at 144Hz, but you'll miss out on HDR support. That puts the laptop well within the range of RTX 4060 prices, usually with a 1080p display.

The ASUS ROG NUC is a mini PC that I often recommend to gamers who want to save space and don't mind working with laptop hardware.

Windows Central Editor Rebecca Spear reviewed the ASUS ROG NUC 970 favorably, noting:

"While it uses laptop components, it has far more ports than most gaming laptops offer and doesn't take up a lot of room. Being able to stand it upright or lay it down adds to its convenience. This mini PC's setup is far more expensive than a similarly configured gaming laptop, though. But if a small form factor is what you really want, this is a great gaming mini PC to go with."

Alienware hardware is often synonymous with "excessive" when shopping around for gaming tech. That sentiment usually comes from the often high prices associated with the brand, but when sales events like Amazon Gaming Week drop the prices by several hundred dollars, it feels way more reasonable.

That's the case with the highly praised Alienware m18 R2, this time offered in a configuration with an Intel Core i7-14700HX processor and NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 4070 laptop GPU. $1,899.99 on Amazon might still look a little intimidating, but you get 1TB of storage and a gorgeous 18-inch 165Hz screen for smooth framerates above 144 FPS.

It's a long shot for many readers, I'm sure, but on the off-chance you've been waiting to splash out on a gigantic monster of a gaming laptop, the m18 R2 certainly meets that criteria. Check it out. — Ben Wilson

Razer Wolverine V2 Chroma

It's fairly obvious that we're all fans of Xbox accessories at Windows Central, and a big part of that is the usual cross-compatibility of practically anything that uses traditional USB hookups.

While I've run my official Xbox controller into the ground by alternating it between my console and gaming PC, our own "Soulslike" mega-fan Alex Cope is an avid advocate for Razer's Wolverine V2 Chroma wired pad that we rated as one of the best.

It regularly shows up around deal season, and Amazon Gaming Week is no exception. If you've been waiting to replace your gamepad, whether on Xbox, PC, or both, the Wolverine V2 Chroma is an absolute bargain. — Ben Wilson

I know, technically, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D stands out as probably the best gaming CPU for your money if you're going all-out, but that doesn't cast any shameful shadow on its monstrous predecessor, the gaming powerhouse Ryzen 7 7800X3D.

Besides, I'm finding it way easier to recommend dropping $390 on the 7800X3D at Amazon than waiting around for re-stocks of the often sold out $479 9800X3D.

Pair it with a suitable GPU like an RTX 4070 Ti or similar, and you shouldn't struggle to run practically any game releasing this year if you're aiming for 1440p resolutions with a little help from DLSS on anything above that. — Ben Wilson

It might sound like a broken record, but we're never going to stop highlighting deals on Xbox storage expansion cards if only because modern AAA games are becoming gigantic. 100GB+ installs make my Xbox Series X weep when I'm utterly indecisive on what to play, and the latest mega-blockbuster Oblivion Remastered entry isn't helping things.

When Zachary Boddy reviewed the WD_BLACK C50, part of their primary criticism was the lack of a 2TB option, alongside the painfully high MSRP.

Well, this Amazon Gaming Week deal solves both issues by offering a tremendous amount of extra space that matches the read and write speeds of the console's internal storage, and at a far more affordable price. Don't miss it! — Ben Wilson
